Agricultural cooperation: FAO redeploys in Cameroon

The institution would expand its technical assistance in particular for the implementation of agriculture 2 nd generation. Reflections were held last Wednesday in Yaounde.

Experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) gathered last Wednesday in Yaounde. Key point of the meeting: the revitalization of the office of the FAO Representation in Cameroon.

Under the chairmanship of MINADER, Essimi Menye and Rouighi Mohamed, CEO of the FAO representative, the participants agreed on the practical modalities for the implementation of an operating program of a unilateral trust fund.

They also reflected on the replacement of the current headquarters agreement, signed in 1978, with a new agreement with an extension of technical assistance from FAO in Yaounde.

"This revitalization will consist of the establishment of a new institution in the configuration, promoting better accompaniment of the second generation of agriculture," said Minister Essimi Menye. "FAO will provide technical experts to support the implementation of agreed programs", assured Mohamed Rouighi.
