Plagued by difficulties since arriving in England, Clinton Njie continues his series of games without a goal for Tottenham.
With a limited performance, supported by a lack of precision and indecisive action, the Cameroon striker delivered a somewhat lackluster performance on Thursday, during the third day of the UEFA Europa League. His club, Tottenham was beaten 1-2 in Brussels by Anderlecht.
Clinton Njie had a very complicated start to the season with the Spurs. Just like in his four matches played in the Premier League, the Cameroonian did not get a goal at the Constant Vanden Stock stadium, against a team of Anderlecht. The team gave a surprise at the 4th minute by Christian Eriksen who profited from a loose ball in the penalty to give the visitors the lead (0-1, 4).
The British then monopolized the ball, but not as well as they thought. Guillaume Gillet equalized for the local side by taking a corner from Steven Defour just before the quarter-hour (1-1, 13th).
A single occasion
The game was so revived. Ivan Obradovic with Ezekiel Imoh and Stefano Okaka mounted the offensive pressure, Anderlecht created other good chances, while Tottenham side, Toby Alderweireld, Andros Townsend and Christian Eriksen lead the response.
Clinton Njie showed how dangerous he was only once, with a shot pass from the right post (52). Warned a few minutes later (55th), the former player of Olympique Lyonnais gave way shortly before the hour mark (59th).
About 16 minutes before Stefano Okaka goal for Anderlecht (1-2, 75th) totaling the same number of points (4 points) with Tottenham in the classification of this group J which has AS Monaco (5 points) at the top.
