Air France delegation came to apologize in my office - Mebe Ngo’o

Minister of Transport, Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o, has stated that a delegation from Air France came to apologize to him after an incident that happened last month.

In late November, the weekly Jeune Afrique reported an incident about the Cameroonian Minister of Transport, Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o, spotted at Roissy-Charles De Gaulle Airport in France.

The article which was headlined 'Cameroon: when Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o halts boarding an Air France flight for 30 minutes' stated that "on November 23 at the airport Paris-Charles -Gaulle, Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o, Cameroon’s Minister of Transport, blocked the boarding Air France flight to Yaounde Nsimalen for nearly half an hour to protest against the seat that had been assigned to him."

According to Jeune Afrique, “Mebe Ngo’o and wife were offered seats in the second cabin Business Class which was very unlikely for the former Defence Minister. The flight personnel tried to explain but in vain. It took the intervention of the captain to make him reason with him."

Last Saturday at the National Assembly, during the “General discuss” Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o was questioned by MP Jean Michel Nitcheu.

He questioned, "how could the Minister of Transport be unpatriotic,” by boarding Air France. He added: “The example is worth more than the lesson,” as quoted in Mutations on Monday, December 7, 2015.

This story is not true

In the cabin reserved for members of the government, the Minister of Communication, who sat close to Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o, continued to whisper a few words of solidarity to the Minister of Transport.

Before the 'show', Mebe Ngo’o stoically remained unmoved. However, his response to the situation generated some emotions. Mebe Ngo’o debunked the reports by published by Jeune Afrique.

“This story is not true, a delegation of Air France came to apologize in my office. In addition, honorable, you have supported these accusations and have been weak enough to call me unpatriotic and sour character. With all the respect I owe you, your reaction inspires me a triple sense of injustice, disapproval and frustration," reported mutations.

The words of Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o are corroborated by the fact that after the publication by Jeune Afrique, Air France sent a denial to the newspaper, saying: “Air France formally denies that the AF 900 flight delays of November 23, 2015, to Yaounde is linked to the Minister of Transport of Cameroon who was on board.
