The Nigerien president, Mahamadou Issoufou, announced that the export of Nigerien oil to international markets will start in 2017 through the Chad and Cameroon pipeline.
The bilateral agreement was approved on Monday in Niamey by the Nigerien Mahamadou Issoufou and Chad Idriss Déby Itno presidents, during an official visit of the head of state of Chad in Niger.
It follows the agreement signed on February 27, 2012 in N'Djamena in which the two countries showed their willingness to cooperate in the oil field.
“The record is well advanced and we expect that the end of work and the start of export will be in 2017-2018”, indicated by Mr Issoufou.
It can be recalled that Niger, through the win-win cooperation with China, has joined the rank of the oil producing and exporting countries since November 28, 2012. It positions the immediate future with a full and complete oil industry by producing high-quality oil, through the Chinese consortium, the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
It operates the Agadem oil block, in the far east of the country, by Chinese and Nigerian technicians, which is processed at the Zinder (SORAZ) refinery company at Sino-Nigerien capital.
