The Cameroonian Weightlifting Federation has organized a gala for lovers of the sport on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at the esplanade of Tsinga high school.

This competition was among other things, an opportunity for athletes who are in external rotation since March 2015, to gauge their level.

Indeed, the national men's and women are preparing for two international competitions teams: the young African championship to be held at the end of this month in Kampala (Uganda) and the African Games to be held in September in Brazzaville (Congo).

The competition was also utilized to detect new talents to build a strong team. The group is rebuilding because of defections at the last Commonwealth Games in Glasgow (Scotland), competition during which many athletes have run away.

According to the first vice president of the federation, Leopold Noudjio Clovis, "…the public authorities should provide financial assistance so that they can prepare in better conditions."

In sporting terms, the main winners of the gala were Mekengni Noumbissi (75 kg) in the women with a load of 102 kg and Ahmed Njoya (105 kg), with a weight of 177 kg lifted.

In addition, the federation says it still takes new absconders. Some are in England and others in France. And they have taken steps for their regularization.

Some are already participating in national competitions in these countries with local clubs. "For some, we recently sent the permissions so that they can compete with these clubs as stipulated in the rules of the discipline. Note, however, that they are all Cameroonians," says Désiré Tsanga, general secretary of the federation.
