Residents of the Central African Republic's capital have been warned against consumption of rotten foods brought into the country by Cameroonian trucks.
These foods, which were fresh and ready for CAR, were stranded at the Douala port during the three weeks strike action by Cameroonian truck drivers, said the head of the health department of the Bangui municipality, Ferdinand Kanda.
He added that these “foods have one bad and must be removed from the shelves of retailers.”
But the owners of these cargoes have gone against the control of the municipality of occupational health service, to put them up for sale once they arrived in Bangui.
The municipal police discovered that over five hundred cartons of decomposed fish and chicken were found at markets in Bangui.
"Seized spoiled products will be incinerated by the municipality," said the head of the health service of the municipality, who again stated that "the municipal police will continue investigations to unearth other rotten foods."
The municipality also urged owners of fish shops and other stores selling rotten foodstuff to detest from it in order to prevent facing severe penalties.
